Project: CN-UNMC Joint Office for MDGs-oriented LGs in the South Asian region

The project aims to mobilise all CN members from the South Asian region to become involved in campaigning for the realisation of the MDGs.

The Agreement for setting up the Joint Office was signed by MuAN, KMC, UNMC and CN pm 23 March 2007. The Joint Office started its operation on 1st April 2007. The Programme Officer was hired. The first progress report was submitted to UNMC in July. The Joint Office has been implemented most activities planned, including the publication of the MDGs brochure, advocacy of the Mission, particularly amongst LGs in Nepal, and so on.

The Joint Office has increased the profile of CITYNET. It has also helped strengthened the CN Nepal National Chapter. Key challenges include the effective operation of the Joint Office, due to the limited office facilities and services, including unstable internet connection.

A new programme officer will be hired to replace the previous person who has taken the post in MuAN. The Joint Office is expected to operate until Dec 2008 with possible extension.
