Water & Sanitation
Tsunumai Project
Collecting clean water following the disaster.
Many poor urban communities require sanitary, inexpensive, and efficient sewage treatment. Many do not have access to the basic necessity of clean, drinkable water. CITYNET is working to provide long-term solutions to an increasingly difficult battle. This means pooling resources and using creative, innovative technology. CITYNET has worked arduously for the active promotion of eco-tank technology. (An Eco-Tank is a small-scale sewerage treatment system composed of a disposable tank that receives and purifies wastewater before discharging the purified contents into the environment). Partnerships with the Yokohama Waterworks Bureau, for example, assists in the goal of sharing best practices for implementation across Asia.
