Project: CITYNET/Yokohama Waterworks Training Programme

Water & Sanitation I Yokohama, Japan

Yokohama Waterworks Bureau (YWWB) and CITYNET work together for the annual CITYNET/Yokohama Waterworks Training Programmes, which invites water management participants from cities throughout Asia and Africa to learn from Yokohama’s expertise in this area for a period of two weeks in Yokohama. Participants attend daily workshops and seminars, visit facilities, and finally present action plans before heading back to their respective cities. In conjunction with CITYNET and Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Post-AWAREE program integrated Environmental Education (EE) with water management improvement. Participating cities from Dhaka, Da Nang, Colombo, and Makati learned various methods and approaches, including rain/sky water harvesting, community-based management, techniques on EE, volunteerism on watershed, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and public/private possibilities. All graduated participants received the Certificate of Completion.
