  • Introduction

Ahmedabad Study Action Group (ASAG) is a voluntary non-profit group of professionals committed to working for the poor. ASAG started informally in 1969 with three of its Founder Trustees spending fifteen months to rebuild a flood-ravaged village. What started primarily as a small group of six individuals to build low-cost houses for the poor, has now grown into an organisation which has attracted full-time professionals from fields as diverse as architecture, rural development, economic planning, research and urban planning. This in-house team of professionals (aided by support and field staff) works as an inter-disciplinary team on the tasks ASAG takes up as its own projects or as specific professional assignments on behalf of other government / non-government agencies.
