Disaster Update: CITYNET urges members to assist the Philippines, Vietnam (Typhoon Ketsana)

30 Sep 09 I Category

CITYNET would like to express our deepest concern and sympathy for the people of the Philippines and Vietnam facing devastation and destruction caused by Typhoon Ketsana over the weekend of September 26th and September 27th. Numerous families have lost their loved ones their homes and livelihoods and according to the BBC, has triggered the worst flooding in decades in the capital Manila and nearby provinces. International aid agencies in the area have reported that they are overwhelmed with the situation and the countries have appealed to the international communities for support.

CITYNET members of Marikina, Muntinlupa, Makati City and Naga are currently struggling to meet the needs of their citizens and we strongly urge all CITYNET members, partners and supporters to extend their hands in support at this challenging time. Furthermore we know that these challenges will continue in the long term as the process of re-building begins, therefore we also encourage sustainable, continued support.

Situation Overview of CITYNET Members in the Philippines Affected by Tropical Storm “Ondoy” (as Typhoon Ketsana is known in the Philippines) as of September 30th, 2009: NDCC_Update_on_Tropical_Storm.pdf
