The Fifth Asia-Pacific Urban Forum
As the aim of development in cities is to ultimately improve the lives of its people and as cities have an immense impact on both the built and natural environment, ESCAP and partners have chosen “Cities of Opportunity: Partnerships for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future” as the overarching theme for the Fifth Asia Pacific Urban Forum.
Participants to the Fifth Asia Pacific Urban Forum will include senior policy makers from national and local governments, representatives of non-governmental and community based organizations, academics, research and training institutes, the private sector and international organizations.

- Mayors’ Round Table on the MDGs Challenges and the Way Forward (with UCLG-ASPAC and UN Millennium Campaign)
- Human Security, Governance and Social Inclusion in Asian Cities (with UN-HABITAT)
- Managing Complex Disaster Risks in the Urban Area (main organiser UNESCAP)
- Urban Planning Café(main organiser UN-HABITAT)
- “Private sector role and impact on cities” (main organiser French Government with UNDP and UNESCAP)
