CIFAL KLRTC Training Course on Solid Waste Management
Cities in Asia generate a colossal amount of waste- about 760,000 tonnes or approximately 2.7 million cubic meters per day. City governments, on average allocate a substantial portion of their revenues for solid waste management, collection, transportation and disposal. To help local governments and partners to sustainably manage their solid waste, the next training of UNITAR/CIFAL Kuala Lumpur Regional Traianing Centre (KLRTC) series XXII focuses on bridging the gap of knowledge on solid waste management to be held from 17 to 19 October in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The training will highlight the management of GHG emissions through solid waste reduction as well as co-benefits aspect of solid waste management.

Evaluation and Action Plan Development
The Training is organised under the auspices of the Kuala Lumpur Regional Training Centre, in short KLRTC, or CIFAL (in French: Centre International de Formation des Autorités/Acteurs Locaux, or International Training Centre for Local Authorities) Kuala Lumpur. KLRTC was launched in 2003 as a joint initiative between UNITAR, CITYNET, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Veolia Environnement, and UNDP. KLRTC aims to strengthen the capacity of local governments to deal with sustainable development.
