概要
1. Become a leading city of the 21st century
Yokohama was first opened as a port in 1859 and has experienced rapid growth to become the second largest city in Japan. Now, the City of Yokohama is becoming a leading city of the 21st century by creating opportunities, harmonizing growth and protection of the global environment.
2. Technical capabilities and city-to-city cooperation
Yokohama has been making use of its numerous technical capabilities, including technologies for water services and resource recycling systems, to contribute to city-to-city cooperation between Asian-Pacific cities for more than 20 years.
3. Reputation as an International City
With research institutes and international organizations such as the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) gathered in Yokohama, the successful holding of TICAD IV in 2008, and the selection of Yokohama as the host city for the 2010 APEC summit, the City of Yokohama has received much global praise and recognition as an international city.City Data (2009)
