• 概要

  Situated at southern Taiwan, Kaohsiung is a maritime city covering 154 km² and has around 1.52 million citizens. It proudly owns a natural harbor which is the 6th largest international container port. Traditional, high-tech and maritime industries give Kaohsiung an essential role in the economic development of Taiwan.
  Kaohsiung City has successfully transformed from an industrial city to an ecological metropolitan over the past few years. The Mass Rapid Transit system is in operation, currently 180 km of bicycle lanes and a green corridor connected by wetlands wind through the city. These all contribute to making Kaohsiung a city of health and happiness.
  Many of the major development projects have won international and domestic recognition. The Heart of Love River, a waterfront scenic attraction with flood detention function, and the KMRT Central Park Station, are both the winner of the FIABCI Prix D’Excellence 2009. Kaohsiung City will continue to progress as a sustainable city of water and greenery.
  The World Games 2009 will be held in the city from July 16th to 26th. The World Games includes the sports excluded by the Olympics, such as dance sport, water ski, and dragon boat race. There will be 26 official and 5 invitational sports in its 8th edition in Kaohsiung. With steadily increasing participation, 5,000 athletes and officials from close to 100 nations, and around 100,000 tourists are expected to visit the city.
