  As the largest city in Sri Lanka formerly known as Ceylon , Colombo is the country's financial and commercial capital with a permanent resident population of 647,100 and a floating population of approx. 400,000.The city covers an area of 37.31 sqkm consisting of more than 120,000 housing stock.
