Ms. Afsana Akther 2010-2011
Dhaka, Bangaldesh I was involved in the Climate and Disaster Resilient Programme (CDRI) and well as coordinating the National Chapter of Bangladesh and the biogas project in Negombo. As an expert on solid waste, I also participated in a number of training programmes with the city of Yokohama, Yokohama Waterworks, KLRTC and the CIFAL Jeju on Green Growth.
I am really grateful to the Programme Director and other staff of CITYNET for extending their generous support to facilitate the study visit programme for me.

Ms. Chosadillia 2009-2010
Surabaya, Indonesia Having a chance to work in the CITYNET Secretariat was very challenging for me because it entailed such a wide variety of new experiences, such as Japanese culture, different weather, and many kinds of people. I now see Surabaya, my hometown, from a different perspective that is more open-minded regarding international matters. I also gained important experience in my field, urban planning. I found that networking and information-sharing have strategic rules to make a city more developed. I hope to have another chance to gain more experience in Japan. -
Ms. Anna Rose Caro 2008 - 2009
Makati, Philippines I consider my experience as a Secondment Staff as one of the major breakthroughs in my life personally and professionally. Since it was my first time to be away from home for a long time, I was able to learn how to live independently. Homesickness is not a very big concern because I was able to meet a lot of interesting and kind people at work and in the place which I called “home.” Working with CITYNET has also provided an opportunity for me to further develop my skills and expertise in various fields such as planning, programme management and coordination. -
Mr. Vu Tuan Dung
Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam I decided to apply for this position so I could gain organisation skills and learn about urban planning and management. Working with the Secretariat, I saw how much my City and I could benefit from my exposure to CITYNET’s work. Cultural immersion in Japan is another motivation – I have always liked my new experiences, and living and working in Japan proved to be very interesting. -
Ms. Desi Yusfriani
Banda Aceh, Indonesia I had a valuable training on urban planning and other fields, including waterworks, and am taking these lessons to my own City. Also, in terms of work ethic, discipline and international exposure, thus has been an eye-opener for me. This was also the first time I lived alone, so I am not likely to forget my experience anytime soon!
